Ask HN: What Is the State of Mobile Development in 2025?

1 points by sarimkx 10 hours ago

Ever since AI has become a thing, there is very little talk of mobile development.

Anything interesting in this space? What is currently trending in the mobile/app dev space? Languages/frameworks being used? How has mobile/app development evolved recently? What is your day to day work like now if you're focused purely on mobile/app dev. Career/work prospects?

You can also be eco-system specific e.g. Android/iOS

TL;DR:

* Kotlin with compose multi platform started catching up and winning the market.

* Apple got worried and started supporting Swift on android, not fully yet, UI only available with external tools.

* Qt with C++ still winning it all.

* People realizing that they don't need this Kotlin / Swift play started writing mobile apps in game engines: Unreal, Godot, Unity.
